PLACES: Invitation to the closing event at Franzensfeste Fortress
After two years of work on the project, the time has come to present the results of PLACES and to look together towards the future of accessible and sustainable tourism. On 20 September 2026, independent L. invites you to the closing event at the Fortezza Fortress, the pilot site in South Tyrol.
The cross-border project PLACES – Promoting Landscape, Accessibility and Culture for Experiential and Sustainable Tourism combines accessibility, digitalisation, inclusion and culture. Over the past two years, new initiatives have been developed to make cultural and tourist sites accessible and enjoyable for as many people as possible.
At Franzensfeste Fortress, the attractions on display include, amongst other things, the new accessible information panels, the immersive audio experience “Welcome to Franzensfeste” and a 360° video about Peter Mitterhofer. independent L. provides an overview of the PLACES tourism portal, the 360° tours of the various pilot locations, the PEBA and the digital accessibility assessment.
In the afternoon, the programme includes a guided tour of the barrier-free museum and a group walk along the new themed trail dedicated to podcasts between Neustift and Bressanone. The event thus offers not only a retrospective on the project’s two years of work, but also the opportunity to discover the new offerings first-hand and to discuss the future of inclusive and sustainable tourism.
