Naturalistic-Archaeological Museum of Vicenza

The Naturalistic-Archaeological Museum of Vicenza, inaugurated in 1991 and housed in the cloisters of the Dominican monastery of the Church of Santa Corona, researches, preserves, and promotes the naturalistic and archaeological heritage of the local area.

The Naturalistic section illustrates the environment of the Colli Berici, the hilly area south of Vicenza (zone SCI – Site of Community Importance, part of the Natura 2000 Network), with its fossils, minerals, animals, and plants.

The Archaeological section displays artefacts from Prehistory to the Early Middle Ages, including: Paleolithic stone tools; Neolithic pottery; votive plaques and Venetic inscriptions from the Iron Age; Roman statues and mosaics; and rich Lombard grave goods.

In collaboration with universities, cultural institutions, and associations, the museum carries out research activities on its collections and the surrounding territory. It has an active publishing programme and publishes the scientific journal Natura Vicentina. It also organises educational activities for schools and citizens, with particular attention to accessibility and inclusion.
