Tre Cime Mondolatte Dairy
Milk has always been one of the staple foods of South Tyrol, and even today, milk plays a central role in the lives of many people.
The Tre Cime Dairy - Mondolatte in Dobbiaco has been processing milk produced by farmers in the Alta Pusteria Valley for 132 years. Every morning, over 35,000 liters of this precious commodity are collected from 180 members, which are then refined at the dairy to produce cheese, butter, yogurt, ricotta, cream, and, of course, fresh milk.
A small museum will give you the opportunity to learn about the rich tradition of milk processing and cheesemaking in the Pusteria Valley. From the Tre Cime Dairy gallery, you can follow the entire production process from above and watch our cheesemakers at work.
In the maturation cellar, you can observe the art of storing and maturing cheeses. All the specialties produced can be tasted and purchased in the attached shop and bistro.
Rating: High accessibility
The Mondolatte dairy has a large asphalt parking lot near the main entrance, with a space reserved for disabled guests. At the time of our survey, however, the parking lot was undergoing renovation. The main entrance features two sliding doors with automatic openings, providing easy access to the cash register. In addition to the traditional turnstiles, there is a dedicated entrance for wheelchair users and families with strollers. The elevator takes you to the first floor, where the museum tour begins, navigating an 8% incline. From the exhibition area, you can observe the dairy's cheese production from above. There is also a children's area accessible by climbing four steps. The elevator then takes you down to the basement level, where you can visit the aging cellar.
After your visit, we recommend stopping to taste and purchase the excellent dairy products at the shop with its adjoining bar-bistro.
The restrooms are located near the cashier's desk: inside the women's restroom (door width 74 cm) is a disabled toilet equipped with a grab bar and a changing table.
