The "Handicap" Library, managed by the A.I.A.S. Volunteer Association of Bolzano, was established in 1985 to provide a meeting and exchange point for families with children with disabilities and a documentation center for rehabilitation and social workers working in the field. Over the years, it has expanded its library and expanded its multimedia offerings as a tool for further study, reflection, and consultation. In recent years, it has become an "information center on disabilities": not just a library, but a true reference point for those working in the field.

The Library's books, in both Italian and German, and occasionally in English and French, are organized by thematic area: medicine, physical therapy, psychology, education, therapies, school and social integration, social culture, architectural barriers, prosthetics and aids, legislation, experiments, and research, as well as a wide selection of fiction, biographies, and autobiographies. There is also a computerized workstation for consulting and searching books, with internet access for online research of material related to the Library's subject matter.
