Re-established in 1990 and reopened to the public in 1995, the Brunico Civic Museum has existed since 1912. During the Fascist period, and more specifically between 1939 and 1940, the museum was closed and most of the objects on display were taken to Bolzano. Today, the new museum displays part of the historical and artistic collection of the former Brunico Civic Museum in the Gothic Hall, featuring important examples of local sacred art such as the late-Gothic altarpiece by Simon von Taisten, as well as works by Michael Pacher, Friedrich Pacher and the Master of Uttenheim. It also hosts exhibitions of works by modern and contemporary artists.

The Brunico Civic Museum is located in the former Post Office stables and does not have a visitor car park; however, there are a few parking spaces in the inner courtyard (with a clay and gravel surface) which can be used by people with disabilities upon request. Inside, the museum is spread over three floors, connected by a spacious lift (140x110 cm). On the first floor, where exhibitions by local artists are held, there is a 10% gradient ramp. In the basement, there is an exhibition hall, the graphic arts workshop and an accessible toilet.
