The Tru dles Liondes nature trail leads from the large Pes-Pesc playground on the southern edge of the village of San Vigilio di Marebbe through a shady coniferous forest to the popular Ciamaor recreational area, known as the ‘Spiaggetta’ (‘little beach’), and provides child-friendly information on the legends and myths of the Dolomites and the ‘Fanes region’. The route follows a wide, gravel-surfaced forest track and is particularly suitable for families with small children and pushchairs.
Distance: 3.5 km
Walking time: 1.5 hours

Reachability

Take the A22 Brenner motorway – exit at "Brixen/Pustertal", then continue towards the Puster Valley, where we turn right into the Gadertal valley just before St. Lorenzen. The SS244 takes us to St. Vigil in Enneberg, where we park in the free car park by the Pes-Pesc playground on Strada Fanes, on the southern edge of the village.

Description

Starting from the small, free car park by the Pes-Pesc playground / Hotel Aqua Bad Cortina on Strada Fanes (no reserved parking spaces for people with disabilities), we follow the small tarmac village road downhill for just a few metres and turn left towards the Ciamaor stream (signposted Tru dles Liondes / Ciamaor). This is where the tarmac village road ends and the gravel-surfaced themed trail, suitable for pushchairs, begins. We cross the small stream via a wooden footbridge and reach the first information board of the nature trail on the other side. From here, a climb of just under 100 m with a steep gradient of 12–15% takes us uphill until we turn left onto a wide footpath into the woods (signposted Tru dles Liondes), which leads us into the shady woods above the Hotel Aqua Bad Cortina:

The shaded nature trail runs parallel to the Ciamaor stream, but slightly higher up along the wooded mountainside, leading us gently into the valley via a series of ups and downs (10–18% gradient). At regular intervals, there are places to sit and further information boards about the legends of the Dolomites. Eventually, we reach a small clearing with a fork across a bridge, but we continue to follow our path on the right-hand side towards “Ciamaor 20 minutes”, which from here climbs once more with a steep gradient of up to 18% for 100 metres, only to descend gently again shortly afterwards towards the Ciamaor stream.
At this point, the forest thins out and we follow the idyllic mountain stream directly to a bridge, which we cross this time (signposted ‘Spiaggetta Ciamaor’), before turning right immediately afterwards towards the sports area. Passing the St. Vigil fishing pond (Uniun Pëiapësc Mareo) and the Owl Park San Vigilio Dolomites, we reach the popular recreational area of Spiaggetta Ciamaor (picnic areas, sun loungers, public toilet (not wheelchair accessible)), which invites us to linger by the crystal-clear mountain water. If we’ve brought a towel, we can take off our walking boots in true Kneipp style and wade ankle-deep through the water – an ice-cold but thoroughly refreshing experience!
After our well-deserved break at the lovely Spiaggetta, we take the footpath leading down the valley behind the miniature village (signposted ‘Spiaggetta car park’), which shortly afterwards takes us down to the bar and stands area of the adjacent football pitch, visible from afar (8% gradient). Above the spectator stands, we follow the wide, gravel-surfaced footpath (gradient of up to 15% in places) to Strada Val dai Tamersc, which we cross after about 50 m on the pavement to take the Tru dles Liondes themed trail continuing on the right-hand side (alternatively, however, you can also continue from here along the almost flat pavement of the road to the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park Centre).
The forest path, offering fine views, leads us gently uphill along the edge of the forest and through lush mountain meadows to the local Al Plan campsite (accessible refreshment stop), after which we follow the paved footpath along Strada Catarina Lanz down to the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park Centre (10% gradient).
From the left-hand side of the nature park centre (Tru dal'Ega information board), the descending footpath (10–15% gradient) takes us back to our starting point at the Pes-Pesc playground in 5 minutes.
