Reachability

By car:
From Bolzano, we take the MeBo motorway to Merano and continue towards the Reschen Pass until we reach Latsch, where we park just before the village begins, right next to the car park for the St. Martin am Kofel cable car.

By train:
The starting point is also easily accessible via the accessible Vinschgerbahn railway (Merano–Mals), although guests in wheelchairs may require assistance at the destination station in Latsch. From the station, we turn left into Hans-Sager-Gasse and follow it to the level crossing (underpass for pedestrians and cyclists), then turn right into Selbahnweg, which we follow to the starting point of the walk.

Description

There is a free car park (made of concrete pavers) at the St. Martin im Kofel cable car station, from where you can easily access the cycle path. We take a leisurely stroll along the cycle path, past a playground and over the bridge to the left bank of the Adige. We follow the cycle path towards Reschen, with gentle ups and downs, passing a sawmill. Every now and then there are a few shaded spots with benches where you can take a break. We continue along the cycle path; the Linear Path, with a few gentle inclines, continues along the Adige until a short section bordering the main road, leading to a 90° left-hand bend that takes us to a bridge. At the bridge, we cross the Adige once more and return to the orographically right bank of the river. Continuing along the tarmac path, we reach Lake Goldrainer after about 50 metres. The lakeside walk is not fully accessible, but some paved sections are wheelchair-accessible. At the Goldrainer See snack bar, there is an accessible toilet and a large playground in the garden.
