Teis - Mesner Lacke
This pleasant walk through a sunny stretch above the head of the Villnöss Valley takes us from the entrance to the village of Teis to the nearby Mesner Lacke lake, where you can spend a sunny afternoon with the whole family and enjoy a picnic. The walk, which is suitable for everyone, can be combined with a visit to the local mineral museum, which is also very interesting for children.
Reachability
From the A22 Brenner motorway (Klausen/Gröden exit), we first take the SS 12 towards Brixen/Brenner and, after about a kilometre, turn right into the Villnös Valley.
After the hamlet of Außermühl, we turn left onto Nafnerstraße towards Teis, where we park at the bus stop at the entrance to the village (no reserved parking space).
Description
Starting from the car park at the village entrance, we follow the small local road, which climbs gently (5–10%), into the village centre (no pavement). Passing the Teis Mineral Museum, Nafnerstraße leads us further out of the village towards Mesner Lacke, with a tarmac pavement. The artificial pond is surrounded by meadows. The short loop around the pond is also accessible to wheelchair users and pushchairs. The benches invite you to linger and play, whilst those interested in geology can examine some rock formations on display, accompanied by information boards, to learn more about the formation of the rocks in the surrounding area.
