{"id":574,"date":"2026-03-26T11:56:06","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T09:56:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/places-interreg.eu\/?p=574"},"modified":"2026-03-26T12:05:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T10:05:38","slug":"3rd-cross-border-meeting-of-the-places-project-in-merano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/places-interreg.eu\/?p=574&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"3rd Cross-Border Meeting of the PLACES Project in Merano"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Our Interreg PLACES project promotes a culture of accessibility among tourism stakeholders in the four participating regions: South Tyrol, Vicenza, Carinthia and the Tarvisio area. In each region, a pilot cultural site is being developed through measures aimed at the sustainable improvement of accessibility, inclusion and digitalisation. The aim is to enhance the experiential nature of the tourism offering, as well as its inclusive accessibility and the enjoyment of the visit for <em>everyone<\/em>. In early February, the project partners met in Merano for the 3rd cross-border PLACES meeting to discuss the activities currently underway.   <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>At the invitation of the South Tyrolean accessibility competence centre <em>independent L.<\/em>, the third project meeting took place in Merano from 3 to 5 February 2025: the informal <em>\u2018Meet &amp; Greet\u2019<\/em> on the first day was followed, the next day, by an intensive plenary session at the Sala Civica in Merano. The meeting was attended by representatives from the La <em>Piccionaia <\/em>theatre production centre in <em>Vicenza <\/em>(lead partner), K\u00e4rnten Werbung (Carinthia), the k\u00e4rnten.museum (Carinthia), the Municipality of <em>Vicenza<\/em>, the Tarvisio Tourist Consortium, independent L. and the consultancy firm <em>ALDA+<\/em>. During the meeting, each partner reported on the progress of the activities under their responsibility. In the plenary session, key indicators and quality guidelines for the individual work packages were also defined.   <\/p>\n\n<p>The following day, 5 February, the programme included an interesting study visit to the South Tyrolean pilot sites of PLACES: following a guided tour of the exhibition of assistive technology and the smart home model flat (i-LAB) at <em>independent L.<\/em>, the group visited the Peter Mitterhofer Typewriter Museum. This accessible museum, located near Merano, had already been equipped with four innovative measures as part of the previous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smart-museums.eu\/it\/museo_delle_macchine_da_scrivere\">SMART <\/a>project (ITAT2049), funded by the ERDF: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An audio guide accessible to <em>everyone <\/em>that provides information to visitors in an inclusive manner;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A 3D film about Peter Mitterhofer that offers an immersive insight into the life of the South Tyrolean inventor;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The option to view certain museum exhibits using Augmented Reality;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A 360\u00b0 VR museum tour that lets you explore the museum from the comfort of your own home.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>From Parcines, the group then travelled to the Isarco Valley to visit the Forte di Fortezza Provincial Museum in the afternoon. As a PLACES pilot site, this extensive museum, housed in the Habsburg fortress of the same name, will be equipped with an immersive audio experience and accessible information panels. <\/p>\n\n<p>The day ended with a walk to the nearby Novacella Abbey, from where \u2013 as part of the PLACES project \u2013 an accessible themed trail leading to Bressanone will be created, featuring 10 podcast stations.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<p style=\"font-size:11px\">ITAT-46-019|PLACES &#8211;
