PLACES Vicenza pilot site: barrier-free access to nature and culture

As part of the PLACES project, numerous measures are being implemented at the pilot site, the Naturalistic Archaeological Museum of the city of Vicenza, to promote accessibility and inclusion:

  • Development of a narrative and sensory museum tour for children and familie
  • Design of a barrier-free walking route with sound dramaturgy, in collaboration with the local population
  • Structural and digital improvements: ramps, lift, new lighting, WLAN infrastructure
  • New museum installations with physical and sensory content
  • Production of interactive, digital and inclusive content
  • Creation of an online platform to promote sustainable mobility, including a virtual tour of the museum
  • Expansion of the Vicenza Museums website with a section dedicated to accessibility, including an “Easy Guide” in large print

The project was officially launched during the kick-off meeting held on 25-26 February 2025 at the museum. The programme included a guided tour and an excursion to Lake Fimon.
